Parsley - June 2014 |
Parsley is my first goat.
We got her from Horizon Bluffs, a nice, honest farm. At the time Horizon Bluffs was in Wyoming and
the round trip took close to 5 hours, which was well worth it. Parsley has conformation that I love. She is extremely well proportioned and beautiful.
She has fine bone structure, a deep
rumen, and a sophisticated face. Technically
Parsley is a paint, under her left elbow is a white spot. Parsley is a dominant, well behaved goat with
an extremely funny personality. She will
play occasionally but would rather eat.
I don’t have to worry about keeping weight on Parsley at all. I also call her my English goat as she likes
to drink warm steaming water, her tea. I
say hi to Parsley by talking to her and looking deep into her eyes. Parsley will look back and sniff my face. Then we lean our heads against each other and
enjoy the company.
(2016) Parsley gave birth to twin February 2015. She is a great mom and absolutely loves her kids. Actually she is also great with other does kids and my bottle baby lived with her and her kids. Her peak in 2015 was around 1 gallon. As of right now, June 2016, Parley is milking an even 1/2 gallon on once a day milking. Still the funny goat, she is constantly making me laugh. Like on our walk when she just decided to carry a pine cone around! Her daughter is over a year old now and has her own son but Parsley still calls her and lets her nurse! Parsley, Parsley! I never thought I would have to deal with that!

Strawbaby - October 2014 |
Strawbaby is my second goat and is well bonded with
Parsley. Strawbaby had just been weaned
when we picked her up and Strawbaby almost yelled the whole 1hr+ drive
home. She is a very loud goat. At one sight of a person and, “Mmmmmmmmmmmaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.” Unfortunately I was unable to get pictures of
her parents. Strawbaby is my biggest goat
and she grew fast. She has nice wide
hips and a wonderful thick coat. Strawbaby
is extremely friendly and loves to be petted.
She wags her tail all the time.
Strawbaby is a tiny bit of a maiden milker. She makes about 2/3 cup every three days. She also is a true goat as she eats everything.
It doesn’t matter what supplements are
in the grain she eats it. She also eats
any scrapes I have fed her from the kitchen, orange peel, apple cores,
strawberry tops, cabbage, limes, squash, etc.
She adores treats. Even the ones
she isn’t supposed to have. Like the
paper postit she happily munched down like a potato chip before I could save it. Thankfully I have taught her to stop trying
to eat my clothes. Yet she still can’t resist
those long dangly hoody ties.
(2016) Strawbaby has grown up a lot. She gave birth to a buck and a doeling in April 2015. Her peak in 2015 was 1 1/2 gallons. Awesome! I was going to milk her through but her and a buckling (that escaped) had other plans. Strawbaby loves making milk so much that she refused to dry off. She gave a 1/2 gallon consistently through her pregnancy. The last two weeks before kidding she lowered it to 6 cups. She gave birth to two beautiful does in April of 2016. I of course missed it, just like the first time. Strawbaby is like super goat and always kids super quick and without assistance. I grafted another doeling onto her and Strawbaby raised all three without help. The first couple weeks I even had to milk her! The doelings couldn't drink it all! I am really excited to see how much she is making this year when I wean her kids. Did I say already that Strawbaby is super goat? Easy kidder, great milker, eats everything, not bossy, great caring mother .... did I miss anything?

Coco - December 2014 and July 2014 as first freshener |
Coco was surprisingly pregnant when we got her. How that tiny little goat every became pregnant
is amazing. Because of Coco’s kid
Truffle, Coco never got to grow very much. Instead Coco put it all into making a super
healthy baby. Truffle, her baby, was already the
same size as Coco at around 6 months. Coco is a wonderful mom, so watchful and
sweet. Coco freshened with a cute, soft,
perfectly even udder. I love milking
her. She gave ½ gallon a day when I
milked her twice a day right after I weaned Truffle at around 4 months. Coco then settled into giving 1 quart for 1
milking a day. Coco’s milk is really
rich and tasty. Coco also has a wonderful
personality. She is so spunky and
playful. She plays a lot with her
daughter and jumps and runs just for the joy of it. Whenever I kneel down, Coco slides up right next
to me and just presses into me. Putting
her head under my arm I feel her saying, “No better place to be.” Coco is such a little blessing to my goat
herd.
(2016) Coco had a single paint buckling in 2015. Again she was a great mom and raised him well. (He was a buck buck and all the girls loved him!) I am milking her through 2016. Coco gives 6 cups a day with once a day milking. I love my little girl. She is such a darling funny little goat. I, with endearment, call her cuckoo Coco. She is does the silliest of things. If she is on one side of the gate she must get to the other. But wait! The she must get to the other side she just came from! Coco puts buckets on her head and will stand there shaking it and then go walking off with the bucket still there! Silly girl, one just has to love her.

Little Daisy 2 days old |
Little Daisy is my special bottle baby. She lived inside for around 3 months. Little Daisy knows her name and will come running when called (most of the time). I am quite sure she knows English as when I talk she will talk right back. She loves to be scratched on her back and behind her horns. Nothing is better then treats though! She kidded in April 2016 with two bucklings. I didn't weigh them but they looked big to me. I don't know how they both fit! I am super blessed that my Little Daisy freshened with a beautiful udder. So fast and so easy to milk. I love it!

Daisy - January 2015 |
Daisy sadly passed away on February 10, 2015. She is sorely missed.
Daisy is my third goat. Daisy’s previous owners sold her for 50
dollars. They advertised her as
registered but the papers where not real and Daisy is missing a tattoo. Daisy was in milk and since we really needed
milk for the chickens’ protein source, we bought her. She is a wonderful goat. She has paid back that 50 dollars over and
over. I milked her through a year and
she consistently gave ½ gallon of wonderful tasting milk. Her udder is a tiny bit uneven but that could
be from old age. If one looks past her
tummy, Daisy also has good conformation.
She has a cute face, long neck, strong well-proportioned back, even
legs, and wide chest and hips. She is
the herd boss and still enjoys playing with the other goats. Her favorite pastime is having her back scratched. She likes other white goats better then
different colored ones and gives the white goats special treatment. When I got Honey, my buck, Honey was a 2 week
old bottle baby. I used Daisy’s milk to
raise him and Daisy also adopted him.
She didn’t let him nurse, even though he did try, but treated him like
her own kid. They slept, ate, and played
together. She would protect and clean
him. It was so sweet. Daisy is a very happy and contented
goat. One can always see her with a big
goaty smile on her face.
